Tell us about yourself as an artist/musician. What do you do?
I’m a producer, mainly working in hip-hop and R&B; however, I might start getting into EDM or Alternative music soon.
How long have you been making music, and what sparked your interest in music?
I started producing music about two years ago. My Dad sparked my interest in music when I was a child. He is an excellent self-taught pianist that played in a cover band for years. It was interesting to see him learn how to play a song by ear as a kid. I don’t play any instruments right now but plan on learning piano like my Dad.
Tell us about your time at NOMU so far? Do you have a favorite memory or experience during your time here?
I've enjoyed meeting the professors and working with classmates during the MIS-1 classes. Especially with the late-night classes, I loved hanging out and making different types of songs. Studio time is good here. Meeting artists and seeing the process they follow to make their own music has helped evolve my craft.
When you're writing or playing music, what influences constantly inspire you as a musician/artist (specific artist, film, art piece, etc.)? Kayzo is an artist that inspires me right now. I feel like his style of music is a little out of my league right now, but I know I will be able to make amazing songs like him soon. Listening to drum patterns made by drummers has helped shape my music.
What are your plans or goals in your life now concerning school, music, or just personally, any other pursuits?
I’m going to finish my audio production degree here at Norco. Afterward, I’m going to work with some DJ friends and find a job with an animation studio to do some dialogue recording. That’s pretty much what I have planned for now.
Any hobbies outside of music that you're interested in?
I like to go camping and traveling. I’ll usually travel two to three times a year. I try to visit one country a year if I can. I also like going to breweries because beer is great.
What was the last country you traveled to since you said that you tried to get to one country a year?
I couldn’t travel out of the country due to COVID, so it’s been a while. But the last country that I went to was Costa Rica and the time I traveled out of state was when I went to New Mexico.
Is there anything you’d like to add, anything you want to tell whoever might be reading this interview, or anything you want people to know about you?
If you want to make music professionally or just for fun, NOMU is a great program to help you get started.
I decided to do something interesting for the website where the last artist I interviewed can ask you a question. The last person I interviewed was Amir Pourmehdi, and he asked, Where do you think you will be in five years? Be specific.
This year, I’m getting a house with my wife. So I’m sure that I’ll have a studio in it. Hopefully, I will get myself out there and work with more artists in a small studio. That’s where I see myself in five years.
