Tell us about yourself as an artist/musician. What do you do?
I’m a guitar player and I’m trying to get into producing. I’ve been playing guitar for around ten years.
How long have you been making music, and what sparked your interest in music?
I started playing guitar from my aunts and uncles since a lot of them play music, so it was just something to do to fit in during bonfires with the family.
Tell us about your time at NOMU so far. Do you have a favorite memory or experience during your time here?
It’s been good. I think my favorite memory would have to be during SAE last semester. I messed up playing one of the songs that were a little bit easier, and everyone gave me a hard time. It was all good fun. I really appreciate those guys.
When you're writing or playing music, what influences constantly inspire you as a musician/artist (specific artist, film, art piece, etc.)?
A lot of the time, I’ll listen to whatever new albums are coming out. If I like it, I’ll try to make something inspired by that. In general, I listen to a lot of hip-hop, and I use that to inspire my guitar playing to flow a little differently.
Since you listen to a lot of newer albums, what has been your favorite record recently?
Recently, Tyler the Creator’s “Call Me If You Get Lost (The Estate Sale)” came out like six days ago, so that was cool.
What are your plans or goals in your life now concerning school, music, or just personally, any other pursuits?
I want to graduate here and be one of the students that keeps getting talked about for multiple semesters. I hear names like Nathan Scott or Damian Navarro, and I want people to keep talking about me even after I graduate here.
Are there any hobbies outside of music that you're interested in?
Not currently, but I would love to get into other art forms like painting or photography.
Is there anything you’d like to add, anything you want to tell whoever might be reading this interview, or anything you want people to know about you?
If you enjoy doing it, continue doing what you want.
I decided to do something interesting for the website where the last artist I interviewed can ask you a question. The last person I interviewed was Caron Hale and the question was, “What is your biggest irrational fear?”
Cockroaches. Easy, I hate those things. They freak me out.
Keep in mind; you also get to ask the next artist a question, so what would you like to ask the next artist that I interview?
Are you proud of where you're at? If yes, let them brag about it a little bit and let them explain. If not, what’s it going to take to get them there? (See Alex Rodgers's interview for the answer to Jack’s question)
